Choosing the Right Pallet Grade
What Grade A, B and C pallets usually mean, and how to choose one for your load in Hamilton.
Grades Describe Condition
Used pallets are commonly sold as Grade A, B or C. These labels describe condition, not a formal standard, so one supplier’s Grade B may differ a little from another’s. Always confirm what a grade covers before you order.
Grade A
Grade A pallets show little wear and few, if any, repairs. They suit automated handling, retail floors and shipments where appearance matters.
Grade B
Grade B pallets show normal use, may be stained and often have repaired boards. They are a common choice for general warehousing and distribution.
Grade C
Grade C pallets show heavier wear. They suit lighter loads, one-way shipments and storage that isn’t critical.
Questions to Ask Before You Choose
How heavy is the load? Will the pallet go in racking, or only on the floor? Will it leave your hands and not come back? Does your customer have pallet requirements? The answers usually narrow the choice quickly.
Racking and heavy loads call for pallets in sound condition. Check the load rating with the supplier, because capacity depends on the design and condition of the individual pallet.
